Frontier Sheep Sorrel Powder, Organic
Sheep sorrel, which grows wild, is much smaller than either French or garden sorrel, and is often tinged a deep red hue. Also called sour-grass, because of its sharp taste. One of its main uses is in the herbal tea, adding a sharp, lemony flavor to foods, providing vitamin C, and serving as an ingredient in traditional alternative cancer teas like Essiac. (Essiac tea is a blended herbal tea, from the 1920's, made from burdock root, sheep sorrel, slippery elm bark, and Indian rhubarb root and is praised as an anti-cancer tea.)

Essiac tea is a blended herbal drink made from burdock root, sheep sorrel, slippery elm bark, and Indian rhubarb root as an alternative remedy to treat cancer and boost the immune system.

How to Use:
Historically, sheep sorrel has been utilized in folk medicine (most famously as an ingredient in Essiac tea) for its diuretic properties. Leaves were also historically mashed into a poultice to soothe skin inflammation and boils.
Use with caution for a person with a history of kidney stones.
