The Legendary Story
The legendary story behind the band of Thieves is an interesting tale! While there are a few versions of the story, they all surround one event, the Bubonic Plague. During the 15th century Europe was absolutely ravaged by the bubonic plague known as “black death”. As the plague claimed victim after victim, a band of thieves took to the streets. Fearlessly they pillaged and plundered the bodies of the dead, seemingly immune to the deathly disease that had claimed the lives of those they were robbing.
Daily they dodged being caught by the king’s men, until one day they finally lost their luck and were brought before the king. The legend goes that the king and his judges were shocked by the indifference towards becoming infected and the apparent immunity to it that this wily crew of outlaws showed. It’s interesting to note here that, during this time writings suggest physicians were seen wearing long black robes, wide brimmed hats, and masks that appeared to have a beak. The masks were said to have contained a combination of herbs and essential oils that the physicians would breathe in order to keep themselves safe from those afflicted with the illness. Their long black robes were also said to be doused in a similar fragrant concoction and current research continues to build upon this theory. So, they struck a deal: give us your secret and walk free.
The thieves divulged they had been using a concoction that protected them from the sickness. This now legendary blend of the thieves was rosemary, lemon, clove and cinnamon, and Eucalyptus. They used it to wield against one of the most devastating pandemics in human history. Hence the story of Outlaw Thieves.

Use this ancient and legendary blend against all kinds of bacteria, viruses and pathogens. We had seen several Thieves bacteria tests being shared around facebook. We swabbed the inside of someone’s mouth with a Q-tip and wiped the petri dish. Wellness Oil Recipe
Outlaw Thieves Wellness Oil Recipe:
- 6 drop of Outlaw Thieves Wellness Oil (1 % dilution)
- 1 ounce of carrier oil such as sweet almond oil, coconut oil, olive oil or grapeseed oil
Please Note: You may use a 2% dilution of 12 drops or a little more for sickness if you can tolerate it.
The cinnamon bark, clove and eucalyptus oil can feel very hot or irritating to people with sensitive skin. Always test yourself for sensitivity, and dilute your Outlaw Thieves to suit you and your family. If for some reason you use too much or it feels too strong, rub a plain carrier oil on to dilute and wash skin.
Ways to use the wellness oil blend you make:
- Basic Wellness: For basic wellness or massage oil make the 1% dilution and massage on the feet, lower back, neck or behind your ears. Be sure to test children for sensitivity on their feet first. This is a great blend to use as a preventative.
- Sickness/Flu/Colds: Make a 2% dilution of 12 drops of Outlaw Thieves oil per 1 ounce of a carrier oil or as tolerated. You can apply the blend you make to places where viruses and bacteria tend to hibernate, such as the bottoms of feet, lower back, the back of neck as well as the sternum, chest and throat for coughs.
- Congestion: Place a few drops in a steaming bowl of hot water and then carefully lean over vapors while covering your head with towel and inhale vapors.

This cleaner is amazing and works for everything in your Home, Kitchen, Bath, Barn, Living Quarters Trailer, Kennel and more. This recipe is a simple, affordable cleaner that works well and cleans mirrors and glass like a champ!
Add the Outlaw Thieves oil to your bottle first along with your mint or lemon oil that is optional, then add water and vinegar as It mixes better that way. Shake vigorously before each use.

1 cups vinegar
48 drops of OutlawThieves (1.5 drop per 1 ounce of water/vinegar blend)

In 2006 Derrick survived an aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection after being air lifted to Abbot Northwest in MN for a 7 hour surgery. Less than 1% survive a dissection as severe as Derrick’s, and half of the survivors live about 2 weeks and from there half can live up to 10 years. Today the doctors tell us Derrick is a medical anomaly. He has been part of a study since 2006 to help doctors learn more about aortic dissection to be able to help others, as only a few survive from such a severe dissection. He has an artificial St. Judes heart value and a dacron aortic arch. After open heart surgery, recovering from a stroke and 1 liter of fluid around his heart, just 3 short months later, we discovered that Derrick also had colon cancer. After a resection to remove the cancer and a lot of prayer, with the life challenges that we were given, we know for sure that God wasn’t ready for him. Derrick is the strongest man I know with with the will and strength to live like no other. I am so blessed to walk this journey holding the hand of a gift from God.
Derrick has been part of a study since 2006 in effort to help doctors understand, learn and help others. When survival comes against all odds, so does change and research. What we put in and on our bodies and the animals we love became more important than ever. We still enjoy treats, live our life to the fullest and make each day count. The John Ritter Research Program in Aortic and Vascular Diseases is working hard to try and prevent premature deaths due to aortic dissection through identifying genes that predispose to the disease (a first step in identifying who is at risk), understanding why the disease occurs, and identifying new therapies to prevent aortic disease.
