Directions: Feed ½ cup (8 TBLS) daily for 1000 lb. mare breeding or pregnant. Foals (Approx. 1 TBLS per 125 pounds) Add to grain or feed alone. Horses LOVE this blend!

Ingredient Blend: Alfalfa, Chia Seeds, Dandelion, Flax, Garlic, Kelp, Lemon Balm, Milk Thistle, Oat Straw, Raspberry, Rosehips, Spearmint, Strawberry

Horses are herbivores so it is natural for them to seek out and eat herbs which have healing properties in their seeds, flowers, roots, stems or leaves. Most of our horses do not live in an environment where these natural herbs are available, so we blended 13 herbs to offer a palatable supplement safe for pregnant mares and foals.

Alfalfa: Alfalfa is enriched with important vitamins, minerals and amino acids for proper bone, joint and muscle growth. It can also assist in stabilizing blood sugar levels.

Chia Seeds:  Chia Seeds are excellent during pregnancy! They are rich in omegas, fiber, anti-oxidants and they increase milk production.

Dandelion: Dandelion Leaf is high in vitamins A, B, C, and D, and rich in potassium, sodium, calcium and other minerals, dandelion functions as a tonic by stimulating liver function, bile production, and kidney function. It helps the body clear itself of toxins and is believed to purify the blood. It’s a strong botanical ally that can be especially useful during pregnancy due to its ability to aid the body in eliminating toxins by supporting the liver and kidneys, and also as a mild diuretic that can help prevent edema, water retention, and hypertension.

Flax: Flaxseed is high in Omega-3’s and is a rich source of healthy fat, antioxidants, and fiber. The seeds contain protein, lignans, and essential fatty acids. Helps with brain development and function in a foal.

Garlic: Garlic is known to act as a natural fly repellent. It is also beneficial for promoting good gut flora. It also acts as a blood cleansing agent and offers immune system support which is paramount during pregnancy and foal foals.

Kelp: The kelp we use is bioavailable and readily utilized and contains trace minerals, micronutrients, and amino acids as well as many natural vitamins. Kelp assists in boosting the immune system, balance hormones and promotes gastrointestinal health. It is a natural source of iodine that helps thyroid and metabolic function and promotes a shiny coat, supple skin, promotes better reproductive performance, purges heavy metals, and assists in more efficient feed utilization.

Lemon Balm: Lemon balm is a member of the mint family and is a safe and gentle relaxing herb that can help alleviate anxiety and create a feeling of calm content.  It’s an excellent addition to a pregnancy blend because in addition to it’s calming properties, it’s also one of nature’s strongest antiviral herbs to assist in keeping mares and foals healthy.

Milk Thistle: Milk Thistle seeds are high in linoleic acid which is successful in regulating female hormone balance. Helps with milk production and neonatal growth.

Oat Straw: Oat Straw is a soothing herb that help regenerate and nourish the nervous system and helps with the quality of milk and production.

Raspberry: Raspberry leaf is known to nourish and strengthen the muscles of the pelvic region, and especially of the uterus.  It’s high in Vitamins C, E, A, and B, and is rich in minerals like calcium, iron, phosphorous and potassium.  Its been known to increase fertility and prevents miscarriage.  It can ease digestive issues during pregnancy.  During foaling and postpartum, it can help ease labor by strengthening the uterine muscles,  increase milk production, and help with expelling the afterbirth.

Rosehips: Rosehips are the seedpods or fruit of the rose. We don’t often see them anymore, because we tend to prune faded rose blossoms. Rose hips are one of the richest sources of vitamin C and also contain vitamin A, thiamine, niacin, riboflavin, and vitamin K. They can help any horse fight off infections and boost his immune health. Due to the presence of biotin, rosehips promote and maintain the growth of healthy hooves, and improved hair coat, mane, and tail. It also encourages the absorption of iron which is important for pregnant mares.

Spearmint: Spearmint is rich in antioxidants and vitamins to support healthy cellular metabolism. The compounds in spearmint help relieve fatigue and stress that naturally happens during pregnancy.

Strawberry: This dynamic little leaf is wonderful for pregnant mares and foals. Packed with vitamins and minerals the strawberry leaf can reduce stomach upset and enhance milk production.
